Habibullah Arif, Mardan’s deputy commissioner, told reporters that the decision to end the lockdown was taken after the coronavirus infection rate came down to 14 per cent from 48 per cent. He said, however, that the restrictions in Mardan will be imposed again on May 8 as the provincial government has announced a lockdown in the province during the Eid holidays.

The complainant lodged an FIR with Kharkai police station, stating that she was on her way home in the evening when three men Mehran, Hazrat Ali and Talha stopped her, overpowered covered her with a shawl and took her to a nearby place where they raped her one by one. The suspects left her and fled when they saw a vehicle approaching. The suspects threw her in a ditch while escaping, leaving her injured.
