The Philippines on April 1 said that it has discovered ‘illegally built structures on features in the Union Banks which is a series of reefs in the South China Sea. The structures are discovered near where Manila has already located a flotilla of Chinese fishes vessels that are allegedly manned by militias and gathered only recently. 
As per CNN report, the Philippines military on Thursday said that the structures were spotted during the maritime patrols conducted on March 30. However, it did not give the exact location of the structures or any more details as to who was behind erecting them in the South China Sea. MANILA –The military on Saturday clarified that the illegal structures earlier spotted during a maritime patrol at the West Philippine Sea on March 30 are not new constructions.
“Except for five past recorded constructions in the Union Banks – two of which were by the Chinese and three by the Vietnamese – we have observed no new constructions,” Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Public Affairs Office chief, Navy Capt. Jonathan Zata, said in a statement Saturday,
He added that the AFP will remain unrelenting in providing pertinent data to the Department of National Defense and the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF WPS) on “the situation that impinges on our sovereignty and our enjoyment of our sovereign rights.” ....

Philippine defense chief, Delfin Lorenzana, renewed a demand for dozens of Chinese vessels to leave a Manila-claimed reef in the South China Sea as he said that he would not be fooled by Chinese claims that the vessels were taking shelter from bad weather. The Chinese Embassy responded to it and called it a “perplexing statement”. It insisted that the vessels had the right to take shelter in what they termed as Chinese territory. “Nobody has the right to make wanton remarks on such activities”, said the Embassy.  ....

Philippines Discovers Fresh Illegal Chinese Structures on Its Reefs

The Philippine military has discovered new structures “illegally” built by China on some of its reefs in the South China Sea, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said on April 1.
The AFP conducted a maritime patrol off of the Philippines’ Pagkakaisa Banks on March 30 and discovered newly-built Chinese structures on some area reefs.
“During this patrol, we were able to document man-made structures that were built on some of the features. These structures are illegal,” AFP chief-of-staff Lt. Gen. Cirilito Sobejana said in a statement on Thursday.
I’ve flown over some of the artificial islands of China when they were still being built. So see them now, completed, is both chilling and sobering. ....
