GUWAHATI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit Assam again on February 22.
The Prime Minister will address two public meetings at Majuli and Silapathar in Dhemaji. According to reports, he will be attending another public meeting on the same day via video conferencing.
Assam Health, Education Finance Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that Prime Minister is likely to visit Assam again. PM Modi will address two rallies that will be held at Silapathar and Majuli. These programmes will be physically and virtually addressed. It is yet to be finalised which programme will be virtually addressed, Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

NEW DELHI: A 26-year-old, Bajrang Dal worker, identified as Rinku Sharma was stabbed in Delhi s Mangolpuri area.
According to reports, Rinku Sharma was actively involved with the Hindu outfit and was a part of the donation drive being carried out by Bajrang Dal for contributing towards the construction of Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Meanwhile, Delhi police have arrested the four assailants, who entered Rinku s house late on Wednesday night and killed him in cold blood.

GUWAHATI: Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that tax on liquor will be slashed by 25 per cent.
Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made the announcement while presenting the vote on account Budget on Friday, on the second day of the three-day State Assembly session. The vote on account from April-July 2021 comes ahead of the upcoming Assam Assembly Elections.
Speaking at the session, Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that the government has decided to remove the 25 per cent additional cess on alcohol, which was levied to meet healthcare expenses during the COVID-19 induced pandemic. The change in the cess tax on the price of alcohol will be put into effect by the state government from February 13.
