Northwest Guilford walks off season opener in wild fashion against Grimsley

It may have taken extra innings, but Northwest Guilford s baseball team won its season opener in style on Wednesday with a 2-1 walkoff win over Metro 4A Conferece foe Grimsley.
Vikings sophomore Bristol Carter scored the winning run in the bottom of the eighth on a wild pitch. Carter led off the inning with a double in the left-center gap and advanced to third on a fly ball to deep center by freshman Jackson Godfrey.
Godfrey scored the first run for Northwest Guilford in the bottom of the first. After drawing a two-out walk, he stole second and then advanced twice on passed balls. ....
