THE stories of a Belfast boxer and a Ballymena athlete are among those celebrated in a new documentary about Irish Olympic successes in the first 60 years of the modern games.
John McNally, who won a silver medal in boxing in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and Maeve Kyle, regarded as a pioneer for women in sport, are both featured in Laochra Thar Lear (Heroes Abroad) on TG4.
I could not believe my eyes when I saw the crowds in Belfast, Mr McNally recalls in the documentary. ....
