Cramer issues statement, outlines North Dakota's benefits from NDAA


 
U.S. Senator Kevin Cramer (R-ND), a Senate Armed Services Committee member, issued the following statement after the Senate passed this year’s National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA):
“As it has every year for the last 60 years, Congress passed legislation today to fulfill our most foundational obligation of providing for the defense of our nation. This year’s National Defense Authorization Act strengthens our military, supports our troops, enhances national security, and contains several North Dakota priorities. I am honored to have helped write this legislation and grateful we were able to pass it with overwhelming support. President Trump should expand his incredible success in rebuilding our military and sign it without reservation.”  ....

Senate Passes Defense Bill, Shrugging Trump Threat of Veto

WASHINGTON (CN) Setting the stage for a final veto showdown to close out President Donald Trump’s single term, the Republican-led Senate voted 84-13 Friday in favor of a $740 billion defense-spending bill.
Trump is expected to veto the bill over various faults he finds in it, chief among them a provision forming a federally backed commission devoted to renaming and removing military installations named after darlings of the Confederacy. Trump has called the maneuver an affront to the nation’s history. ....
