WA Indo-Pacific Defence Conference to be held at Optus Stadium from October 19-20
Prominent international defence speakers confirmed, more than 500 expected to attend
Annual conference was postponed last year due to COVID-19 
The Western Australian Indo-Pacific Defence Conference returns this year, with three prominent international speakers already confirmed.
United States’ Indo-Pacific Co-ordinator Dr Kurt Campbell will deliver a keynote speech along with former US Ambassador to South Korea and Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command Admiral Harry Harris. BAE Systems Australia CEO Gabby Costigan will also give a speech. 
The Japanese Minister for Defense Nobuo Kishi and President of Boeing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific Dr Brendan Nelson will also address the conference. ....

Second World War, from 1939 to 1945, was a life-changing period for Fiji.
In readiness for war, there were a few massive infrastructure developments in the colony. Among them were the establishment of our “landing strips” from which we inherited our airports.
By July 1939, it had already been confirmed that Nadi was going to be the main “aerodrome” site in Fiji.
Nausori was to have a single strip and Laucala Bay was to be a seaplane station, with a secondary station in Lautoka for active use during bad weather. ....
