Beggar stabs fellow to death over zakat in Pabna Star Digital Report Star Digital Report
A beggar was stabbed to death by another beggar when they went to receive zakat from a businessman s house in Pabna s Boro Bazar area this noon.
The victim, Alladi Khatun (55), along with several hundred beggars, gathered at the house of Harunur Rashid at Panir Tank area of the district to receive zakat, reports our correspondent quoting Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.
The OC said Alladi and few other beggars had a dispute over going to the front amidst a huge gathering. At one stage, a beggar suddenly stabbed Alladi, the OC said quoting witnesses, adding that the perpetrator could not be identified immediately.

A man was shot to death in Pabna Sadar upazila last night.
The victim was identified as Amirul Islam (30), said Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.
OC Nasim Ahmed said a group of criminals shot Amirul, a construction worker by profession, in Ataikanda Bunepara area around 8:30pm on Sunday, leaving him dead on the spot.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna General Hospital morgue for autopsy, our Pabna correspondent reports, quoting the OC.

Additional police deployed after supporters of rival councillor candidates clash in Pabna

Additional police personnel were deployed in Radhanagar Moktobpara of Pabna municipality s ward 11 after a clash between supporters of two rival councillor candidates this afternoon.
Police brought the situation under control but the mood in the area is tense, reports our Pabna correspondent quoting police and locals.
The clash erupted in the afternoon when a campaign procession of incumbent councillor Faridul Islam Dalu reached the Radhanagar area and the men of his rival candidate Sanaul Haque Sanu attacked them.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control, said Nasim Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station.
