A suspicious package was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Overton Brooks VA Medical Center in Shreveport. At around 3 p.m. mailroom employees discovered a suspicious package that was leaking an unknown liquid substance. VA Police was notified and moved the package to a safe location. The Shreveport Fire Department and Police Department were asked to respond in efforts to contain the suspicious package. After an hour of investigating the package authorities determined the package and its contents were harmless. With the efforts of all three departments safety of the veterans, staff, and visitors were at the highest priority. VA Medical Center said, We thank our mailroom staff for their alertness and our VA Police for their quick response, to include local authorities. ....
