BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The LSU Presidential Search Committee has announced the list of 23 candidates who are seeking to become the next president of the university.
However, the committee announced Wednesday it narrowed down the list of candidates to eight out the 23 candidates listed
(see full list below).
On Monday, April 26 and Tuesday, April 27, committee members will begin interviewing candidates Laurence Alexander, Ron Clark, Jay Dardenne, Kelvin Droegemeier, Jim Henderson, Rustin Moore, Mary Ann Rankin, and Jeff Talley next week.
The Presidential Search Committee met April 21, per the schedule established in their April 10 meeting, and finalized the list of candidates that will be interviewed for the job of LSU s president.Â
Out of the 23 applicants presented to the committee, eight were chosen to move forward to the interview stage.Â
Following is the list of candidates who were up for consideration:
Laurence Alexander, J.D., Ph.D. Professor and Chancellor University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff
James Anderson, Ph.D. Former Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Office of the Secretary of Defense U.S. Department of Defense
David Blackwell, Ph.D. Professor and Outgoing Provost, University of Kentucky
Applicants for the top job at Louisiana s flagship university will get their chance to impress a search committee during virtual interviews scheduled for Monday and Tuesday.
After months of looking for a new president-chancellor of Louisiana State University and the LSU System, committee members accepted a list of 23 applicants at a meeting Wednesday and narrowed that number to eight who will advance to the first round of interviews next week. Interviews will be streamed to the public.
The eight to be interviewed include notable local names such as state Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne and UL System President Jim Henderson. Another applicant with a Louisiana connection is Rustin M. Moore, a professor and dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University. Moore taught at LSU from 1996-2005.
