ELKINS The public is invited to a pair of tree planting events Friday. The City of Elkins Tree Board and the Emma Scott Garden Club will be celebrating Arbor Day Friday with two tree plantings at city parks in Elkins. The Tree Board will have its event at Glendale Park near the newly established Outdoor Education Groves beginning at 2 p.m. Representatives from the Tree Board, West Virginia Division of Forestry and Elkins Mayor Jerry Marco will be participating. The Emma Scott Garden Club will be planting a tree at the Davis Street Park, located one block from Randolph Avenue, at noon. ....

ELKINS Already in 2021, the Elkins Tree Board and Friends of Trees has helped organize a spate of beatification activities for the benefit of the community. In March, the organizations spearhead the planting of 14 trees in the new Outdoor Education Groves at Glendale Park. The Elkins Tree Board procured the trees with funds awarded through the West Virginia Division of Forgery’s Demonstration City Grant Program. This is the second consecutive year the tree board was awarded this grant. The City of Elkins Street Department provided services to meet the required in-kind match. ....
