We’re all getting ready for a new normal and in terms of eating and drinking it’s going to involve a lot of outdoor dining.
A number of weeks ago the government launched the Outdoor Dining Enhancement Scheme and a move is on to encourage a lot more outdoor life.
But does this Café Society present any problems?

The scheme will provide for up to 75% of the ex-VAT cost of equipment purchased/installed with a maximum allowable contribution of up to €4,000 per applicant.
The Outdoor Dining Enhancement Scheme is being delivered in partnership with Fáilte Ireland and Local Authorities across the country.
The scheme will be open for applications from 13/4/2021 and will close on 30/9/2021.
Funding under the scheme is only available to existing businesses and all applicants will be required to comply with planning codes, legislative requirements and other compliance requirements.

In order to place furniture in public places, applicants must first have applied for and been granted an Annual Street Furniture Licence from Dublin City Council under section 254 of the Planning & Development Act 2000 or have applied for and been granted a Temporary Seating Permit under Section 71 of Roads Act 1993.

HOTELS, CAFES, RESTAURANTS and attractions where food is sold can now apply for outdoor dining grants of up to €4,000 to help transform their outdoor dining capacity ahead of the summer months.
The Outdoor Dining Enhancement Scheme, open to applicants from today, will provide funding for outdoor seating and accessories to help tourism and hospitality businesses offset some of the costs incurred in upgrading premises for outdoor dining and seating.
