Earthquake, Tsunami Hazards Captivate East Coast Schoolkids In New Roadshow

Students at Hatea-a-Rangi and Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o
Tokomaru in Tairāwhiti have been the first to take part in
a new roadshow aimed at educating about the risks posed by a
Hikurangi subduction zone earthquake and tsunami.
The
school roadshow developed by East Coast LAB (Life at the
Boundary) and delivered by an educator from the National
Aquarium of New Zealand will visit 10 schools from
Tairāwhiti down to Wellington. The roadshow is funded by
the Earthquake Commission (EQC).
The Hikurangi
subduction zone runs along the boundary where the Pacific
tectonic plate moves beneath (subducts) the Australian ....

Jandrell, CEO of Web Genius is well-aware of what goes on
behind the scenes with the Campaign Manager driving a
significant amount of mahi involving Web Genius staff and
others to make this event happen on an annual basis. A huge
thank you to everyone who took part in helping to raise
funds for such an important cause, and an extra special

and getting ready to take place on Sunday 21 March
2021.
Kāpiti Run for Youth is open for registration
and we can’t wait to get back out on the beach as a big
group after taking the event virtual after going into
lockdown in March 2020. We worked very hard to make the
virtual event a success and were amazed at the number of
local people that got out in their bubbles and completed the

A monster 1m grass carp is back lurking in Lake Tutira after being released by an angler who hadn t fished the lake for a decade because it stank.
Ashley Perfect, a 52-year-old Otaki College biology teacher, landed the carp in a 45-minute early-afternoon struggle while fishing with wife Jody and their children on January 21. ....
