Jacko Gill sets personal best win over Tom Walsh in second shot put event of the day

Jacko Gill stunned a big crowd at the Christchurch International Track Meet with his third successive win over Canterbury s former world champion Tom Walsh.
Not many athletes can claim to have set a personal best and beaten a former world champion in their second event of the day – but Jacko Gill can after his third successive win over Kiwi shot put rival Tom Walsh.
Gill produced a 21.52m effort at the International Track Meet in Christchurch on Saturday night to beat hometown hero Walsh’s season-best 21.46m.
The Aucklander’s winning throw came just hours after he’d hurled 21.19m at an event to commemorate the 10th anniversary of Shaka Sola’s Throwing Academy in Lower Hutt. ....
