A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the removal of a wind farm in Osage County and set a trial for damages in a win for the Osage Nation and its Mineral Council, which, along with the federal government, have been fighting the erection of the turbines for more than a decade.
Years of mismanagement and declining oil production have left Osage Nation with a higher concentration of abandoned wells than anywhere else in the country.
This is an appalling episode and an entirely legitimate subject for a film, part of the history of the “blood-soaked rise to continental power” of American capitalism at the expense, in the first place, of the Native American population.
