Orisabunmi didn’t die of COVID-19 – Nephew Published 12 January 2021 A nephew to the late Nollywood actress, Folakemi Aremu popularly known as Orisabunmi, has dispelled the rumour going around that she died of COVID-19 complications. Tunde Onishola, son to the late Kwara Falcons Basketball Club Technical Director, Steve Onishola, told the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday in Ilorin that the multiple deaths were “just a coincidence’’. Onishola said neither his father, Steve; Orisabunmi and his younger sister, Janet Ademola died of COVID-19 related circumstance. NAN recalls that Onishola died in Ilorin on Thursday, January 7, barely 24 hours after his younger sister, Folake Aremu. ....

The stage and movie industry in Nigeria was thrown into deep mourning on Wednesday with the news that the iconic actress, Folake Aremu, who is popular as Orisabunmi, had passed on. The fiery actress who was once married to another legend of the stage and screen Jimoh Aliu at the early stages of her career, reportedly died on Tuesday night at her Ibadan residence after a brief illness same day. Aged 61, the actress earned the alias Orisabunmi after she delightfully interpreted the role of a pacifying priestess Orisabunmi in a 1987 TV series Arelu produced by her former husband Jimoh Aliu who passed on in October 2019. She was later to feature as the priestess Orisabunmi in most stage and screen production of the ’90s. ....

The Kwara born actress dies four months after the death of her ex-husband, Jimoh Aliu, who was popularly known as Aworo. x President of the Theatre Arts And Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN) Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr. Latin, confirmed she died on Tuesday night. The veteran actress, a native of Olla in Kwara State, died at age 60 at her residence in Ibadan, Oyo State. She was said to have died after a brief illness. Born on October 10, 1960, in Ilu Ola, Kwara State, Orisabunmi went to Ilu Ola Primary School and Secondary Commercial College. Prince Jide Kosoko, who confirmed her death to The PUNCH on Wednesday, expressed grief and prayed to God for the repose of her soul.
