Ribchester bank holiday market celebrates most successful year to date despite restrictions

A May bank holiday market saw their busiest year yet despite Covid-19 restrictions being in place. The Ribchester Spring May Market was held on Sunday (May 30) and hosted 81 stalls and an estimated 4,000 customers during the day - the busiest they have ever been. Organiser Andrew Wallin had to cancel last year’s market due to the pandemic and was elated when Ribble Valley council told him that the 2021 markets could go ahead. With stalls selling food, craft items, raising money for local schools and charities and stalls hosting even games for children, the market proved popular on Sunday with Andrew thinking the good weather brought more people out.

Organiser Andrew Wallin is delighted that the Ribchester May market can set up stall again this year. He said he received the go-ahead from Ribble Valley Council recently and is now taking bookings for stalls. The event will be outdoor only and visitors will have to wear face masks, sign in (by app or paper) and observe social distancing. The Rosemere Tombola stand at the 2019 Ribchester May market.
