A living legend in our community is celebrating a century. Oren Lee Peters turns 100 next week. He has two wars under his belt and his stories have captivated everyone who has been lucky enough to hear them.Going back in time comes naturally to Lt. Col. Peters. His most significant memories are steeped in World War II and the Korean War. He spent 43 years in the service – a testament to his dedication to his country.And his name is well-known.“First, it’s important to understand that Oren Lee is a legacy,” said curator Michael Gonzales. “He was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard before the war, so he was mobilized with the division in 1941, went through all the state s site training and went through all of the campaigns you see here 511 days in World War II.”He continued: “At the end of World War II, he stayed in the division and was mobilized in September 1950 and served during the Korean War.”Aside from being a treasure for his military service, Peters a
