Delingpole: Bojo, Gove, Princess Nut-Nut... If Only They'd All Lose

28 Apr 2021
Did Prime Minister Boris Johnson say – or did he not say – that he would ‘rather let the bodies pile high in their thousands’ than order yet another lockdown?
Johnson has denied it.
Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Michael Gove is saying that he ‘never heard’ Johnson saying it and that  ‘the idea that he would say any such thing I find incredible.’
Other anonymous Westminster insiders are swearing blind that Johnson did say it.
But frankly who cares? The fact that this question is currently the main topic of debate in British newspapers speaks volumes about just how debased our political and media culture has become; and also, worse, about the degree to which it is now dominated by the kind of headbanger who would happily keep the entire country masked, locked down, socially isolated and quarantined for all eternity rather than countenance a return to the ‘Old Normal’ most of us surely so sorely miss. ....

The UK s Electoral Commission on Wednesday launched a formal investigation into the funding of Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s Downing Street flat refurbishments, which have been at the centre of a row over whether donations to the ruling Conservative Party were involved in it.
The elections watchdog, which has been in contact with the Tory party since last month, said it felt there were “reasonable grounds” to suspect that an offence may have occurred in relation to the apartment used by the Prime Minister above No. 11 Downing Street. ....

Downing St denies Tory party funded Boris Johnson's £60k flat refurb

Downing St denies Tory party funded Boris Johnson s £60k flat refurbishment
DOWNING Street has denied that the Conservative party funded the refurbishment of the Prime Minister s flat.
A spokeswoman issued a statement this evening saying Boris Johnson paid for any work not covered by the £30,000 taxpayer-funded allowance, out of his own pocket.
In a statement, a No.10 spokeswoman said: Any costs of wider refurbishment this year beyond those provided for by the annual allowance have been met by the Prime Minister personally. Conservative Party funds are not being used for this.
It comes after reports that Mr Johnson was considering setting up a charitable trust to fund the work, and further reports that the £58,000 renovation was paid for via a donation to the Tory party. ....
