getting started. dana: let s get to alexis mcadams live at newark airport in new jersey. how is it going? not so bad right now. a lot better than it has been since saturday and sunday where some of the people i ve been talking to have been sleeping at the floor at airports across the east coast trying to get home. we checked with airlines to see how they are doing. things aren t back to 100% and entering the busy time for the july 4th holiday weekend. as we mentioned people have not had anywhere to go except sleep on the floor. six hours, not even a bottle of water. frustrating. the line doesn t move. i know they don t have nothing to offer for us. that s kind of pretty hopeless. this is the scene at airports across the country as more than 28,000 flights and counting have been delayed and 7200 canceled since sunday. not a lot of good news. to say people are fed up is an understatement. hundreds of passengers left waiting on the tarmac for hours thinking they will l
trump in the midterms. the panel is preparing to get new witnesses on the record, including former trump cabinet members but the committee s next hearings in september will take place during the final stretch of the high stakes midterm campaigns. and any minute, we will get a white house update on president biden s health as he deals with covid. so let s begin with that fight over reproductive rights underway in indiana. right now, lawmakers are holding a special session to consider a new law banning abortion with very narrow exceptions. vice president harris flew to indianapolis today to meet with lawmakers, offer support from the white house as well. i m here to support the legislatures who are here, and to support the folks doing the work on the ground in terms of service providers and to let them know we stand with the women of indiana. we trust the women of indiana to make decisions about their own lives without requiring their government to tell them what to do wi
dana: anchor of the story martha maccallum. we can ask you questions now. what s interesting is this is a policy advisor for a parents group coalition of virtue. for the meeting tonight they are closing it off. they don t want to have, as they say, something disruptive. she is saying this is an attempt to sigma advertise protests and families coming and showing up to show support for restoring the opt out option for parents. it is completely unnecessary for security is just a way of demonizing. they have a problem on their hands here. i see it in a couple of levels. one level is that they have tried to open up the teaching in these schools to be more inclusive and to talk about all of these issues. but now their problem is that in the struggle for diversity, now you have people from all over the world living in this community who have deeply held religious beliefs and they want that diversity to be understood in the school as well.
out. but if you do want to learn about this, then your child should have the right to do that, not because some minority said they shouldn t, and this information is crucial. i mean, you know, we know are from all the research and all the studies that about 40% of students will have sexual intercourse of some sort before they graduate, and it is our job to give them the information to protect themselves and to make responsible and healthy decisions! but, i mean, you re saying before they graduate high school, not before they graduate grammar school. this one was for middle school. but either way, let me tell you what one of the parents who spoke against the curriculum said about the opt out option. here she is. the opt out forms are not clear to us parents. they do not specify the sensitive topics at hand that you intend on teaching our children, abortion, gender ideology. you should not be saying parents have informed concept by filling
mandates that require people to be vaccinated or get tested regularly before they go to work. they do have the opt out option and something that democrats were pointing out in spades tonight during this debate. that vote was defeated so the mandate still funded as part of the continuing resolution. also now there s going to be aversion of the government shutdown. meaning the government will not shut down tomorrow at midnight. both republican and democratic leaders were on the floor celebrating that fact, arguing it was very important both sides came together to make sure this didn t happen tonight or tomorrow night, don. a very important moment for congress but this is only government funding until february 18th. we get to do the whole thing again in a couple of months. february 18th we go through all of this one more time. seems like we just went through it. lauren fox, thank you very much,
