Colorado to receive nearly $10 million in settlement from firm advising opioid companies


The consulting firm McKinsey & Company has agreed to a settlement of $573 million, of which Colorado will receive nearly $10 million, to end investigations by a coalition of state attorneys general into the company s role in working with opioid makers to help them market their drugs and maximize profits as an addiction crisis in the country grew.
Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser announced the settlement in a news release Thursday.
Weiser sat on an executive committee that led the states investigation along with the attorneys general of California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Tennessee and Vermont.
The coalition included 47 states, the District of Columbia and five U.S. territories. ....
