IAF clocks over 1,000 heavy-lift sorties in the battle against Covid-19 | India News

NEW DELHI: The IAF has now clocked over 1,000 sorties by its heavy-lift aircraft like C-17 Globemaster-III and Ilyushin-76 to transport cryogenic containers and medical equipment from abroad as well as within the country in the battle against oxygen shortage and transportation bottlenecks during the second Covid-19 pandemic wave.
“It has been a huge effort since mid-April. These 1,000 sorties, which include 161 sorties from abroad, do not include the ones being undertaken by medium-lift aircraft like C-130J `Super Hercules’ and Antonov-32,” said a defence ministry official on Monday.
From abroad, the IAF has airlifted over 120 containers, with a total capacity of over 1,000 metric ton, and a load of over 500 metric ton of medical equipment from countries like Singapore, Dubai, Thailand, Germany, Australia, Belgium, Indonesia, the Netherlands, UK, Israel and France. ....

New Delhi [India], May 24 (ANI): As part of the ongoing Operation Samudra Setu II to support the nation s fight against coronavirus, Indian Naval Ship Tarkash on Monday arrived in Mumbai with 40 metric tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) from Qatar.
As part of ongoing COVID relief Operation Samudra Setu II , INS Tarkash with two Liquid Medical Oxygen (LMO) containers of 20 MT each (from Qatar), 760 oxygen cylinders and 10 oxygen concentrators (from Bahrain) embarked arrived at Mumbai on May 24, an official statement from Indian Navy said.
Indian Navy had launched Operation Samudra Setu-II to augment the ongoing national mission for meeting oxygen requirements in view of the surge in cases of COVID-19. ....
