A long-term agreement with the developer of the Bayside Centre property in downtown Sarnia says Lambton County can buy the office space it’s leasing there for $23.5 million, 10 years into the deal.
A Lambton County council committee recently endorsed a plan that could see $14 million eventually set aside in reserves to help pay for the purchase.

Lambton County’s provincial offences court officials say the offices at the Bayside Centre in Sarnia are temporarily closed to the public because of the provincewide pandemic lockdown.
The county’s court services department said the closing affects in-person administrative services and ticket payments and is expected to last until at least Jan. 11.

Currently, all court appearances are scheduled to proceed by remote audio or video, the department said.
The scheduling of in-person appearances, which are currently expected to be permitted as of Jan. 25, will only be booked at the direction of the presiding judiciary, according to a news release issued by the county department.
