India News: Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the national conference to mark the creation of 25 crore “APAAR: One Nation One Student ID Card.” The APAAR ID is linked to academic bank of credits (ABC) of the respective student, enabling personalized study plans and real-time performance analytics.
Launched as part of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) now makes registering on the Academic Bank of Credits (ABC) mandatory for all college/university students.
APAAR initiative aims to digitally consolidate the complete academic records, including degrees, scholarships, rewards, and other credits into a unified ID. It also aims to reduce fraud and duplicate educational certificates by providing a single, trusted reference for educational institutions
The Indian government plans to integrate education records into its one nation, one student ID initiative by 2026-27, according to official documents. The initiative aims to provide students with an Aadhaar-verified ID that will act as a gateway to a digital repository of education records and academic credits. The government also plans for all government and government-aided schools to switch to an online admission system by 2026-27. The proposals were presented at a national conference and are part of the National Education Policy 2020. | Latest News India
