Independents. before we get to the general election. let s talk about the nominations as they haven t even had the first vote for that. ed, i have to say i was struck by senator coburn. in doing the research i saw that on c span back in march he had spoken some what critically and not in a volunteering, kind of as you saw here being dragged out of him critical comments about newt gingrich. i was impressed that he said it again today. i was struck by it. and he spoke specifically about newt gingrich s leadership and his style. one of the things you will see the next few weeks and months is voters looking at newt gingrich and wondering will he have the discipline to be the potential nominee. at the same time, they will be looking at mitt romney and like mara said, does he have the fire. will he be tough enough to fight for the domination. we wily over the next couple ....

Once again, the leaders across the aisle are saying no. they want to hold these middle-class tax cuts hostage until they get an additional tax cut for the wealthiest 2% of americans. this is who the republicans are and who they have been all along. it s about tax cuts for the middle class class. here is a nebraska senator mike johanns talking on c span about small business. small businesses need another loan like they need another kick in the pants. only two republican senators voted to move forward on the business bill and both of them are retiring. i don t think the republicans want to do anything to help job creation in this country because a better economy will only hurt their chances at the ballot box. joining me now is austan goolsbee, the new chairman of the council of economic advisers for the white house. good to have you with us ....
