i noticed how much security there was out in the streets, how everybody was holding people tightly and walking and quietly moving around. i noticed i thought to myself i had adrenaline rushing after we had ran. i thought, wow, those guys were trying to make it inside the stadium. this night would have been very different for me if that had happened. there was much more bloodshed going on throughout downtown paris at several restaurants. when did you find out about all of that horror? after we were on our way one of our other cousins home sent us a message updating us on what s going on. in the meantime, i was just trying to get messages to family in the states telling them i m okay knowing if they saw any news knowing i was at the soccer
and then i hear screaming after that first gunshot. and then i looked out and i saw the people running and i said to the teacher we need to get out of here right now. and then we heard the second and third gunshots. and she had opened the door. before i knew it i was already at the student center because i booked it over there. we re continuing to follow the breaking news out of roseburg in oregon at umpqua community college. ten people dead. at least 20 people injured. a mass shooting under way earlier in the day. the shooter shot and killed by police. joining us on the phone right now is chelsea gorro, she s a local reporter with the registered guard newspaper. you re at the fire station at the fire department where they re about to hold a news conference updating us on what s going on. what s the latest you re hearing? well, i am stationed here at the fire department. it s right next door to oregon state police s regional office. so they re going to hold a press conference here
disaster areas. joining me now on the phone is kelly pherson. can you update us on what s going on as it s going downstream and people are getting more alarmed as it s getting closer to contaminating their water? thanks for having me, frances. s it it is already in san juan, headed toward lake powell, recreation area. not pumped water from the river since saturday and so they are just hauling water to the storage tanks, clean water, drinking water to the citizens of san juan county and other areas of their water system. how will this impact them you talk about them hauling water. i can imagine some residents there so concerned are they going out of the way to conserve water? is that the option for them now
