department, i share those concerns and i demand a thorough and transparent and speedy investigation. this will not be an opportunity for us to make excuses. but rather to investigate this case to the fullest, to provide the justice we all seek for tatyana. our officer involved shootings are investigated by both our major case unit which investigates the criminal aspect of the case and our internal affairs unit, which investigates administrative policy and training violations. these investigations occur concurrently, but separate li, i will outline with where we are with both investigations at this point. the internal affairs unit responded to the scene of the shooting. their role is to observe the on scene investigation. the officer who shot atatiana, was served his written administrative complaint on sunday.
lian lianne, may i ask you, of the nine people injured two of them in good condition, and five of them police officers. can you describe wa happened to put police officers right there in the line of fire without some sort of cover or was the gunman able to move around? we are trying to figure out how that happened. well, part of the issue is that they responded so quickly. for example mr. garrett swasey who responded at the very beginning of the incident, an it was not his jurisdiction, and he didn t have to, but he heard the calls for help. there were other officers. because they swoop ed in and tried to contain this person immediately, and he was immediately opening fire on them. there were several volleys of fire, so we are not sure. that is part of the investigation. there is going to be actually two separate cases going on at once. one involving the gunman and
