The Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) has helped to develop and shape the lives of many young people in the island and with more funding, Sports Coordinator Captain Michael Jules believes this programme can excel even further. Speaking this morning during a virtual press conference to highlight the scholarly achievements of three of Barbados’ outstanding footballers – Rashawn Kellman, Shakeel Browne, and Omani Leacock – Jules said it will take close to BDS$3 million to make a lot more things happen for the sports programme.

Tridents’ tough task Article by March 10, 2021 Head coach of the Barbados senior men’s team Russell Latapy is confident that his players can produce the type of results required in the first leg of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football (CONCACAF) qualifiers. The Bajan Tridents are scheduled to depart the country tomorrow (March 10) for a two-weeks training camp at a facility called Cana Cana located in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, in preparation for the qualifiers. Once that all-important camp has concluded to get the senior national side ready, they will travel from March 22 to March 31 to Santo Domingo where the matches are scheduled to be played at the Estadio Olimpico Feliz Sanchez.
