MELBOURNE (Reuters) – Australia has sent the International Olympic Committee (IOC) funding guarantees for Brisbane’s 2032 Games bid following confirmation of federal government support, Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said on Tuesday.
Palaszczuk said the government had confirmed it would fund the Games’ infrastructure with Queensland state just over an hour before an IOC deadline on Monday.
“I thank the Prime Minister (Scott Morrison) for getting me such a prompt response,” she told reporters.

The Sunshine Coast is expected to play a vital role if Brisbane is successful in its bid, with the region tipped to host several events.
The funding promise could help secure several long-awaited projects for the Sunshine Coast including a faster rail link between Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast, upgrades to the Kawana stadium and a convention and performing arts centre at Maroochydore CBD. ....

While the budget, for example, is expected to contain changes to superannuation to help women bolster their retirement savings, more substantial measures such as a mechanism to enable catch-up contributions are likely to come later.
“The budget has to achieve some steps on gender equality but it won’t be the last word,” said a source. ....
