Members of a housing advocacy group were arrested in Washington state Sunday after they allegedly stormed a hotel in Olympia and occupied it while demanding better care for people living on the streets.
Olympia police said around 11 a.m., around 45 members of the group Oly Housing Now, some of whom were reportedly armed with hatchets, batons and knives and had gas masks, helmets and goggles, gathered outside the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia and made their way inside. ....

Homeless Activists Arrested After Taking Over Hotel In Washington State | 97.3 and 103.3 The Bull ICONS

A group of homeless activists were arrested after they took over the first two floors of a hotel in Olympia, Washington, on Sunday (January 31). Authorities said that about 45 people, who were members of the group Oly Housing Now, stormed inside the lobby armed with items such as hatchets, batons, knives and had gas masks, helmets, and goggles, and demanded the hotel open its rooms for homeless people.
Authorities said that the group had booked 17 rooms at the hotel for homeless people and demanded that city officials tap into money provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to pay for the rooms until the coronavirus pandemic is over. ....

An activist group calling itself Oly Housing Now has occupied 17 rooms of a Red Lion Hotel on Capitol Way in downtown Olympia, WA, according to a news release issued by the group. Update 9pm: At least 12 people have been arrested so far.
Update 8:30 PM: EMTs were seen entering the building. City of Olympia releases a statement on the events on the evening.
Update 8:20 PM:
Sympathizers of the hotel occupiers are harassing journalists and citizen journalists documenting the event, trying to get them to stop filming.
Update 8:15 PM:
According to the David Ross Show, flashbangs were visible in some of the hotel rooms from the street and some of the occupiers may have set furniture on fire. The fire department has responded. ....

An militant Antifa group, that the media tells us doesn’t exist, literally took over a hotel in Olympia, Washington yesterday in the name of getting the homeless a free place to stay:
TOWNHALL – Antifa members armed with knives and hatchets took over a hotel in Olympia, Washington, over the weekend.
“The Olympia Police Department (OPD) is in the process of clearing the Downtown Olympia Red Lion Hotel after it was forcibly occupied by a group identified as Oly Housing Now, a homeless activist group. Employees of the hotel have been safely escorted out of the occupied hotel after sheltering in the basement through the afternoon and part of the evening,” the City of Olympia released in a statement. “At about 11 a.m. today, people inside the Red Lion began calling 911 to report a group was attempting to forcibly take over the hotel. OPD received reports that the employees felt under threat from the group, and that an employee was allegedly assaulted.” ....

A new strategy has emerged from housing radicals in the Seattle-area: holding hotels hostage with fringe demands to government officials.
The subterfuge starts simply enough. They pay for rooms for one night under false pretenses, refuse to leave, and post a press release to Twitter with their demands, hoping to put pressure on city officials to relent. But this time it quickly got out of hand.
I live and work in Seattle. I cover these groups on my KTTH Radio show and podcast and I appear on Fox to talk about these issues. These stunts are occurring more often than in the past. More worrisome, they’re getting considerably more dangerous. ....
