2 docked in Ekiti for stealing N1 5m property

Tue Jul 13 2021 A 23-year-old man, Happy Balogun, has been arraigned at the Ado-Ekiti Magistrate Court over the stealing of property worth N1 million. The police prosecutor, Inspector Olubu Apata, told the court yesterday that the defendant and others at large on July 8, 2021 at about 1.30 pm at Irona, beside Easy Life Hotel, stole plastic chairs and tents worth N1 million, property of Benson Oluwole. He said the offence is contrary to Section 380 and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2012. Counsel to the defendant, Barrister Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant his client bail, and that he would not jump the conditions.

The plea of the defendant was not taken. In her ruling, the Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adefumike Anoma noted that reports of rape and sexual assault on female children were now rampant, NAN reports.
