The Ministry of Energy suspects that the energy suppliers have concluded an illegal cartel-type of agreement, for they did not buy the electricity to be supplied to the population at the lowest costs possible, the relevant Minister, Virgil Popescu, said in an interview to AGERPRES.
The Minister showed that the prices are not yet stable after the liberalization of the market as of January 1, but the providers relied on the fact that the authorities would return to the regulated prices and they did not buy the energy for the second half of the year.
With respect to the Black Sea gas, Romgaz and the Ministry have received positive signals from Exxon regarding the take over of the 50 percent package in the Neptun Deep project, while negotiations continue and the offshore Law is about to be modified in Parliament. ....

The government adopted at its meeting this Thursday an emergency ordinance on the restructuring plan of the Oltenia Energy Complex, a plan that has already been greenlighted by the European Commission, and which provides for the grant of 664.1 million lei as state aid to the power facility for the purchase of green certificates, Prime Minister Florin Citu announced.
There was need for an emergency ordinance for the restructuring plan of the Oltenia Energy Complex. This is an EC-approved plan for the purchase of green certificates. RON 664.1 million in gov't endorsed state aid for Oltenia Energy Compex

The government adopted on Thursday an emergency ordinance on the granting of state aid of 664.1 million lei to the Oltenia Energy Complex (CEO), for the purchase of emission certificates for last year, according to a release of the Ministry of Energy, sent to AGERPRES.
We are moving ahead with the restructuring process of the CEO, and the amounts allocated today come to confirm that we are following the plan agreed with the European Commission. The CEO is an important pillar of the energy system in our country, but we also need to complete the restructuring plan in order to be able to produce clean energy, said the Energy minister, Virgil Popescu. ....
