Court sentences accused of abduction, torture of Lutsenko, Verbytsky to 9 years in prison | KyivPost

Boryspil City District Court of Kyiv region sentenced Oleksandr Volkov to nine years in prison, accused of abduction, illegal imprisonment and torture of Ihor Lutsenko and Yuriy Verbytsky during the Revolution of Dignity, the Prosecutor General’s Office (PGO) told Interfax-Ukraine.
“The court sentenced the accused to nine years in prison,” the PGO said, noting that the prosecutor’s office will appeal against this court decision, since it does not agree with the verdict.

One of the major reforms we have undertaken was targeted to strengthen the judicial sector, including the appointment of the chief justice and of the judiciary in toto.
