Finnish biotechnology start-up Montinutra has partnered with personal care company Ole Hyvä Luonnontuote to use an ingredient from the by-products of spruce sawmilling, which it claims is a natural and eco-friendly surfactant.

SpruceSugar, an innovative antioxidant compound made from forest industry side stream sawdust, has been chosen by Ole Hyvä Luonnontuote, a Finnish maker of body and home cleansers to create a new personal care range. Dubbed Metsä (the Finnish word for “forest”), Ole Hyvä’s new line features three products: a shower gel, a shampoo and a liquid hand soap. Developed in partnership with Montinutra, a start-up developing forest based ingredients and a Metsä Spring’s portfolio company, the new line.
