Scissortail Park: global firm JLL to help develop housing, retail, offices

Oklahoman A global real estate firm is joining up with local investors hoping to build a mix of housing, offices, restaurants and retail on dozens of blighted blocks west of Scissortail Park. Chicago-based JLL has offices in 80 countries and in addition to design and development, the firm also represents institutional and retail investors and high income clients. Michael Swaldi, senior managing director of Jll s land practice group, said the firm will help envision, build and finance Strawberry Fields and where applicable  sell individual parcels of Strawberry Fields to other developers. Pat Salame, whose prior experience was in smaller residential properties, started acquiring properties in the former Orndale neighborhood in 2015 as the blighted area was opened up by the relocation of Interstate 40 south of downtown and the old highway s replacement by Oklahoma City Boulevard.

A 15-car pileup happened at about 7:30 a.m. CST on Interstate 40 at Mustang Road, KOKH reported. A second, 25-vehicle pileup was reported about an hour later on Oklahoma City Boulevard, near I-40 and S. Agnew Avenue, KOKH said. The second pileup involved an Oklahoma Highway Patrol trooper, the station reported. A KOKH reporter for the TV station said people were being taken from the crash on stretchers. KOCO reported that five people were injured, one critically.

At Least 5 Injured In 29-Vehicle Crash Near Downtown OKC

Twenty-nine vehicles are involved in a crash on Oklahoma City Boulevard, firefighters said. The crash happened Monday morning in between Pennsylvania Avenue and Agnew as freezing temperatures and freezing drizzle helped make roadways slick in the state. Five people were taken to local hospitals and one was taken in critical condition, Oklahoma City fire Battalion Chief Benny Fulkerson said. Firefighters said vehicles were stacked next to each other. Some other people involved in the crash went to hospitals on their own to be checked out, Fulkerson said.
