CRESTVIEW In and next to Crestview, which already is Okaloosa County s largest and most-populated city, several subdivisions containing a total of more than 2,000 single-family homes are either being built or are in the late planning stages. Many of the residents of all of those new houses will, of course, add to the traffic congestion on already busy roads such as State Road 85. While the developers of some of the new subdivisions plan to upgrade streets next to their projects, far greater traffic relief is expected to come via the ongoing southwest Crestview bypass work and the planned widening of a long segment of SR 85. ....
CRESTVIEW The contractor responsible for widening the first three phases of PJ Adams Parkway to four lanes has been awarded the job of widening the fourth and final segment of the ongoing project. In August 2019, the county hired C.W. Roberts Contracting of Freeport to widen and make other upgrades to the parkway between State Road 85 and Wild Horse Drive at a cost of $14.9 million. On Tuesday, the Okaloosa County Commission unanimously approved paying the company a little more than $5 million to widen the parkway between Wild Horse Drive and Crab Apple Avenue and relocate city of Crestview utilities along the route. The city will reimburse the county the almost $1.2 million cost of the relocation work. ....
CRESTVIEW The Okaloosa County Commission has helped pave the way for new commercial development in Milligan, despite the concerns of members of a historic church. On Tuesday the body granted majority approval to future land-use map and zoning designation changes for a property that could later contain several businesses. The overall planned project site stands on the northwest corner of U.S. Highway 90 and State Road 4 and next to Beulah No. 1 Missionary Baptist Church. According to project documents, Miramar Beach-based 4-90 LLC plans to build two 11,264-square-foot retail strip centers next to Etta Garrett Road and west and northwest of the church, as well as a 4,532-square-foot convenience store north of the church and next to the intersection of U.S. 90 and SR 4. ....
