AMANDA - One man is dead following a house fire at 7985 Lancaster-Circleville Road around 1 a.m. Thursday, Fairfield County Sheriff Alex Lape said.
He got his family out and somehow became a victim of the fire, he said. I don t know if he was inside trying to retrieve pets or something along those lines. I don t know that.
Lape did not release the victim s name yet or the cause of the fire. But he said the victim s next of kin had been notified. Lape also said he believes the deceased man was the homeowner.
I know the family and I know the relationship, Lape said. It s a sad, sad thing for anybody to have to go through especially when it ends up the way that it did. It s too bad. ....
