TOWN CENTRE: Fake Festivals Ltd is applying for the grant of a premises licence for a marquee and secure fenced area in Faringdon Road Park on one Saturday a year. In 2021, that would be July 24.
The Swindon Fake Festival would include live and recorded music between midday and 11pm, the supply of alcohol between midday and 10.45pm, and be open to the public between 11.45am and 11pm.
Fake Festivals Ltd will inform the licensing authority of the date for each year s event.
Applications may be inspected at Swindon Borough Council offices between 9.00am and 4.30pm (Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays). Representations for this application must be made in writing to the address by May 17 2021. ....

Villagers working to save the Silks get £60,000 funding boost


A campaign to save a village pub has had a huge funding boost.
The Silks on the Downs, in Ogbourne St Andrew, has not opened its doors since the pandemic struck last March.
By offering community shares, the #SaveTheSilks campaign aims to save the pub and help it to to become a community hub, providing a warm and welcoming space to meet as well as a valuable lifeline to the community.
Today, it was announced that the campaign has received a significant boost via a conditional offer from the Plunket Foundation’s More Than A Pub Programme supported by Power To Change. ....

Locals are now working to save The Silks on the Downs in Ogbourne St Andrew which ceased trading in March 2020 at the start of the first lockdown.
Stuart Williamson, Chairperson of the society said: Community Pub projects like ours have the potential to deliver much more than just a pub with the members having a say in the community services that should be delivered alongside the traditional food, drink and social aspects of a quality local.
Reducing social isolation, supporting and hosting local interest groups as well as encouraging access to the countryside are all objectives we hope to deliver if we are successful in our campaign and we hope that today’s budget announcement gives all community pub groups a better chance of success. It’s more important than ever that we now accelerate our community share offer fundraising to give us the strongest possible ch ....
