The Concerned Edo Citizens, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has urged residents in Edo State to take advantage of the all-inclusive Edo Health Insurance Scheme (Edo-HIS) to access quality and affordable healthcare services. The convener of the group, Comrade Ogbewi Aghedo, who spoke to journalists in Benin City, said it is important for residents to enroll for the health insurance scheme to benefit from the several packages of the scheme. Aghedo noted that the state government has demonstrated commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, reducing mortality and tackling the burden of out-of-pocket health expenditure for residents. “Civil rights groups, religious and traditional leaders should work together in mobilizing vulnerable persons in their communities to enroll for the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), which is an initiative of the federal government, implemented by the state government under the equity plan of the Edo State Health Insurance ....

In a statement issued in Benin City, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Osarodion Ogie, said its position on the issue was clear and had not changed since it insisted that it would not cede land to herdsmen. “Our attention has been drawn to misleading and false media reports claiming that Governor Godwin Obaseki, has agreed to provide grazing land for herders in the state. “Our position on grazing land is clear and has not shifted, which is that there is no free land for grazing in Edo State. Grazing is an economic activity just like poultry and piggery or any other agricultural enterprise. The Edo State Government will not cede any land for grazing. ....
BENIN CITY – The Edo State Government has partnered the Concerned Edo Citizens, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), to increase awareness on safety protocols to check the spread of the second wave of coronavirus (COVID-19) in major areas, markets, event centres and other public spaces in Oredo, Ikpoba-Okha and Egor Local Government Areas of the state.
