13 Nigerian athletes get $82,000 Olympic grant

Punch Newspapers Sections Kelvin Ekerete A total of 13 Nigerian elite athletes have received training grants of $82,000 from the International Olympic Committee, ahead of the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Saturday PUNCH reports. The Nigeria Olympic Committee sustained the initiative of providing Olympic training scholarships for elite Nigerian athletes, in collaboration with the Olympic Solidarity Department of the IOC and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa. The grants were given to athletes from sports such as athletics, taekwondo, table tennis, weightlifting and wrestling. The beneficiaries of the training grants are Amusan Oluwatobiloba, Ofili Favour, Nathaniel Oghenewegba and Nathaniel Glory from athletics, while wrestlers Adekuoroye Odunayo, Adeniyi Aminat and Oborodudu Blessing were also recipients of the grant.
