AFP steps up ops vs. terror groups as elections approach

Armed Forces of the Philippines chief-of-staff Gen. Andres Centino said troops deployed nationwide remain vigilant against groups that might threaten the public from casting their votes. "With the campaign period for both national and local posts in full swing, now more than ever, we in the AFP implore troops deployed all over the country to remain vigilant against entities that may threaten or prevent our citizens from safely exercising their constitutional right to vote the next leaders of our nation, including our local government executives," Centino said in a statement Monday. AFP headquarters service command gets new chief

Gen. Ferdinand S. Razalan, the new General Headquarters and Headquarters Service Command (GHQ&HSC) chief. Col. Jorry Baclor, AFP public affairs office chief, said Razalan officially replaced Brig. Gen. George Joel N. Lalaquil effective April 11. Lalanquil is set to head the Philippine Army (PA)'s Installation Management Command in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig. AFP logistics chief retires after 34 years of service

Diaz, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) deputy chief of staff for logistics or OJ-4, formally retired from the service on Thursday after more than 34 years in service. In a statement Friday, the AFP honored Diaz's role in the construction and maintenance of infrastructure and facilities that improved the living conditions of troops stationed in remote detachments and stations in the West Philippine Sea. He likewise oversaw the completion of 13 major defense procurements under the AFP Modernization Program. This included the 16 S-70i "Black Hawk" combat utility helicopters, 12 155mm self-propelled howitzers, and 15 armored mortar carriers.
