Officers, firefighter, Samaritan save driver from sinking vehicle in Eagan

A harrowing situation unfolded Monday in Eagan when a driver suffering from a medical emergency crashed into a pond near Lunds & Byerlys, with the vehicle quickly filling with water while the driver was unresponsive.
The SUV was locked and the windows were up when a bystander, police officers and firefighters arrived at the scene, with water levels inside the vehicle rising up to the driver s chest.
According to Eagan PD, the SUV was pointing nose down and floating, so to gain better footing the group of responders pushed the vehicle to more shallow water and then decided to break the windows.
