An eighth Los Angeles Police Department officer has died from complications due to COVID-19, the department announced Monday. Officer Becky Strong, who joined the department in 1994, died early Monday after several days in the hospital. She worked as a police officer for 27 years. She was last assigned to the South Traffic Division. “It is with an extremely heavy heart that we mourn the loss of LAPD Police Officer Becky Strong, who passed away this morning from complications of COVID-19,” LAPD said in a tweet. “Our deepest condolences go out to Officer Strong’s entire family, colleagues, and friends in this most difficult time.” Two other non-police-officer LAPD employees have also died from COVID-19. MS. PSAKI:  Hi, everyone.  I have a couple of items for all of you at the top.  I wanted to take a moment to recognize the passing of Metropolitan Police Officer Gunther Hashida and Officer Kyle DeFreytag two officers who bravely defended the Capitol, both during and after the insurrection on January 6th.  Their deaths are a sad reminder of that shameful day in our country’s history and of the physical and mental scars left the officers who risked their lives to protect our Capitol and our democracy.

We heard firsthand, last week, from tho- from some of those who served on that day, and their testimony reaffirmed the incredible bravery they showed in the worst possible circumstances.  Their passing also reminds us of the remarkable courage of the men and women in law enforcement who serve with honor and leave home each day not knowing what risk they may face but are determined to protect their ....

A fourth law enforcement officer who responded to the Capitol on Jan. 6 has died by suicide, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) confirmed to The Hill on Monday.
A department spokesman said Officer Kyle DeFreytag, who had been with the department since November 2016, was found dead on July 10. Police confirmed DeFreytag, 26, was among a host of MPD officers who were sent to the Capitol in response to the riot.
This is really getting scary. They keep mentioning the riot, but they ignore the abuse the DC officers take thanks to police-hating Mayor Bowser. There is also the pandemic. We need this looked into. ....
