The HUD PRO Housing grant program aims to reduce barriers to affordable housing production by helping local communities address infrastructure challenges and land use and regulatory barriers.
The application will help unlock the production of at least 10,800 new housing units within the next six years. Over time and with additional infrastructure, the proposal aims to unlock up to 30,000 new units. The grant application is not part of the Emergency Proclamation relating to affordable housing.
Governor Josh Green, M.D. announced James Kunane Tokioka will serve as the Director of the Department of Business, Economic Development, and Tourism. A former member of the Kaua‘i County Council and Hawai‘i State House of Representatives, Tokioka worked his way through the hotel industry, both here in Hawai‘i and across the United States.
Because of the increase of visitors, “amenities offered at the park are being stretched and park upkeep and maintenance are being tested,” according to the bill’s language. The hearing on SB 1136, SD1, HD1 is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2023.
The Hawaiʻi state Senate took votes Friday on key gubernatorial nominees. Keith Regan (formerly of Maui) who was nominated as Comptroller for the Department of Accounting and General Services, received a unanimous vote for Senate confirmation.
