Brothers accused in murder of Decatur County deputy enter not guilty plea

DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) â Two brothers accused in an officer-involved shooting in Brinson entered not guilty pleas on Tuesday for the murder of Decatur County Sheriff s Office Captain Justin Bedwell.
Brad and Troy Phillips had their first court appearance Tuesday, June 8, 2021. Their next court date is scheduled for the third week of August.
In March, Magistrate Judge Maggie Smith denied their bond due to the danger and risk the brothers pose to the community.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Troy Phillips and Brad Phillips have been charged with the following for the murder of Decatur County Sheriff s Office Captain Justin Bedwell:

BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) -Many people are mourning the loss of Decatur County Sheriffâs Office Captain Justin Bedwell.
Funeral services took place Thursday.
They started in the only way a true Star Wars fan would have it, with Darth Vaderâs anthem playing.
Seats in Centennial Field Stadium were full of many people who came to pay their final respects to the father, son, husband, friend, and officer, gone too soon.
Some of Justinâs sense of humor made its way to the podium.

DECATUR COUNTY, Ga. (WTXL) â Two brothers accused in an officer-involved shooting in Brinson will stay behind bars without bond as they face charges for the murder of Decatur County Sheriff s Office Captain Justin Bedwell.
Decatur Sheriff Wiley Griffin told ABC 27 the felony murder charges against Troy Phillips and Brad Phillips were transferred to be set by the superior court judges.
On Tuesday, Magistrate Judge Maggie Smith denied their bond due to the danger and risk the brothers pose to the community.
