Tributes paid after sad passing of true Offaly Gael

TRIBUTES have been paid to the late Bill Dolan, a stalwart of the Offaly Association in Dublin over many decades.
Bill, who passed away on Tuesday, June 8 last, was involved in all aspects of the Association and served in the position of Vice-President at the time of his death.
A native of Clonlyn, Belmont, tribute has been paid to him by Pat Teehan, the Chairman of Leinster GAA Council, and a former Chairman and Secretary of the Offaly Association (Dublin).
Extending sympathy to the deceased s family, Pat said “it would an understatement to describe Bill as one of life’s gentlemen. His caring and gentle nature endeared him to all, who had the pleasure of his company. “

Others in Offaly GAA circles paid tributes with Noel Russell describing him as an excellent secretary, the best organiser who cared deeply for Offaly GAA.
Noel added: Above all, Martin was a gentleman.
Warren O Meara commented: So sorry to hear about Martin, a brilliant secretary and organiser. Martin was a gentleman and I had many a great day with him. He is up there with his great friend and colleague Tony Cassidy, rest in peace Martin.

Offaly GAA is in mourning following the death of former county board secretary Martin Heffernan.
Tributes have poured in since news of Mr Heffernan’s passing yesterday, with Offaly GAA tweeting the following: Another well-known Offaly Gael passed to his eternal reward today [Monday]. Martin Heffernan served for several years as Offaly Bord na nOg Secretary, and before that was both a player and administrator with Tullamore GAA. May he rest in peace.
Rest in peace Martin. A great secretary who cared deeply for Offaly GAA and underage development in particular. Highly organised and always doing far more than his job description entailed. Condolences to Martin’s family.
