The same section of north dallas and now we re expecting them to call us back on exactly what they ll do going forward. if they call off the seven, if they keep the search going, those sorts of questions. right now the case is still open on susan loper but a body has been found nearby where her car was found. jenna: more as we get it. thanks. rick: one year after the deep water horizon tragedy, new off shore oil drilling permits are going forward with new rules and regulations, too, but critics say the industry is gambling on the chance of another big spin. kris gutierrez is live from the helix producer rig off the coast of louisiana. hi kris. reporter: rick, this production vessel was actually used last year during the bp oil spill to collect oil that was spewing into the gulf of mexico and could be used again in the event of another disaster. we should point out the government stopped all deep water drilling following that spill. the moratorium was lifted in october but new drillin ....
Hurricane ka traoepb ha 11 million barrels were released. remember we use 20 million barrels a day right here. 11 million barrels represent about 12 hours worth of oil. bill: clinton was what here? 1997. bill: i this have graphic. here is the highest price ever traded for crude oil, july of 2008. this same week, two days later george push pulled a moratorium on off-shore oil drilling. why did he do that? oil prices were spiking much like they are right now. he added more drilling and look what happened. it went from 137, $33 a barrel in six months. bill: could this be psychological? we are going to release oil, take pressure off. for 20 years we have been talking about drilling more. the first time, five years ago, six years ago the first time oil ever traded $50 a barrel we said ....
Nor, nova southeastern university, it was a three way battle. you ve got meek, you ve got crist. and you ve also got rubio but in this soundbite exchange, it was mainly the democrat vs. the newly independent guy in the center, mr. crist. listen to this. i m just shocked to hear, you know, now the new lingo from the governor talking about obama care. i want to be said that to the president who was talking with him on the beach. when we were on the beach, we were protecting florida. that s what i talked to him about. you re for off shore oil drilling. no, i m not, i m opposed to it. now you are. now you are. now you are. you got you can understand the confusion because the voters in florida know their governor crist as a republican at least when they voted for him to become governor and now when he realized he would not win, the republican primary for senate, he changed to be independent. now, is there pressure on meek to drop out of this race? ....
Sand. the tar balls are off the beach, we ve been out and there are no tar balls cited sighted today. before there was drilling off shore there were tar balls on the beaches of texas. there s about a million barrels of natural seepage a year around the united states. so tar balls are not unusual, especially this time of year, when the wind turns out of the south and you get some of that up. we have sampled every single one and will continue to respond to them. rick: what s the source of the tar balls if they are confirmed to be from the bp spill? that will mean that oil from the leak has now reached all five gulf coast states. as the number of areas affected by this leak goes up so do the costs for bp. if the spill is capped soon, and a lot of people hope it will be, the company may still make it but if oil keeps on spewing in through the summer and into the fall, the oil giant faces possible financial ruin and that may mean even more bad news on the gulf. fox business network s ....
Lot of revenues to be gained in this oil drilling business, it s a major source of a lot of the energy that we have in this country, so you can understand why they would want to keep doing it, but it does raise a question, because it was clearly an environmental concern and it offered them an opportunity to do things differently, and they fought to overrule it, they found a way to get around it, and that s why i think this report is getting a lot of attention this morning. what do you think? i think you re right. it s so curious, because the obama administration came in, touting green jobs, green energy, as opposed to oil and gas, and often times, deriding the bush administration for just saying open everything to drilling, drill baby, drill, marioo martha, so now you get into a situation where you discover that the administration challenged the court. the case had been brought by alaskans and a group of environmentalists to try to stop some of the bush administration leases for dril ....
