Multiple editions of Windows 10 versions 1803, 1809, and 1909 have reached their End of Service (EOS) on this month s Patch Tuesday, as Microsoft reminded customers yesterday.
Devices running Windows 10 editions that have reached EoS will no longer receive technical support nor monthly bug and security fixes to protect them from the latest discovered security threats.
While usually, Redmond advises users of end of service products to upgrade as soon as possible to the latest available versions to keep their systems secure, the company also automatically rolls out feature updates to some out-of-date devices reaching EoS. ....

It s starting to seem like I m going to have to write this article once every six months. But once again, it s Patch Tuesday, and once again, you should probably steer clear of Windows Update.
To be clear, I m not recommending that anyone not install cumulative updates on your PC. You should always keep your machine up to date. You re going to want to install them manually though, and you can find the links to the manual downloads here.
If you go the Windows Update route, you just might end up downloading the Windows 10 October 2018 Update, or version 1809. There probably isn t anything wrong with that, but that might not be what you were going to Windows Update for, being that it s Patch Tuesday. ....

On October 2, Microsoft surprised pretty much everyone by releasing the Windows 10 October 2018 Update (version 1809). The reason that it was so surprising is because it skipped over an entire ring of testing. The way it usually works is that the RTM build starts out in the Fast ring, it s promoted to the Slow ring, and when it gets to the Release Preview ring, that means it s slated for release to production.
In fact, that s exactly what the Release Preview ring is designed for. It s for people that want the update early. These testers expect a build that s ready for production, but they re opting in a little earlier than regular users. If there are any last-minute show-stoppers, Microsoft can catch them before the feature update is released. ....
