To join us in the conversation, like us on facebook at cspan history. 200 years ago on december 24th, 1814, the treaty of ghent was signed by negotiators from Great Britain and the United States, eventually bringing the war of 1812 to an end. Next on american artifacts, we visit the Octagon Museum and the treaty room where president madison signed the agreement two months later on this table in 1815. We joined a tour of the museum with a group of belgians who travel to the octagon to mark the anniversary with a gift of several hybridized treaty of ghent rose plants.
