隨著南海局勢緊張，菲律賓為了阻止領海被侵犯，海軍將希望放在一項祕密武器上：女性的聲音。
策畫者加文（Ronnie Gil Gavan）認為，女性的聲音可以讓對方想起自己的妻子和母親，而且亞洲是母權社會，女性的聲音會更有心理優勢。
但這也引發外界的批評，菲律賓大學性別研究專家希薇亞（Sylvia Estrada-Claudio）就說，無論無線電裡傳來男聲或女聲根本不會有太大的區別，中國船隻對於要留下或撤離，有更重要的考量，而且亞洲社會實際上是父權制的。
她強調，外交或地緣政治上的分析，比對男聲或女聲的爭論更有意義。 ....
